“I thought I heard the captain’s voice”…

The captain’s voice echoed…

Across the stormy sea…

Skimming the cruel waves…

A last desperate plea…

He’d battled sea monsters…

Sea devils and demons…

Fought Neptune’s storms…

And lost all his crew men…

But now he stood there…

Exhausted and alone…

After one final challenge…

Before setting for home…

As she’d got in his head…

And infected his brain…

With an invisible madness…

That drove him insane…

Hearing her quiet whispers…

In the blackness of the night…

Seeing strange dark shadows…

In the cold pale moonlight…

And convinced he saw her…

In the corners of his eyes…

This Queen of the Mermaids…

Who’d hypnotised his mind…

She’d become his obsession…

He had needed to see more…

He was desparate to hold her…

Before heading back for shore…

So he’d set out to find her…

In the midst of a great storm…

But with no stars to guide him…

He ended up lost and forlorn…

In the midst of the oceans anger…

And waves climbing so high…

He now clings to the mast…

With tears in his eyes…

Standing there calling…

Her name out to sea…

Where nobody can help him…

Or hear his last plea…

“Read about the politician’s lover”…

She was in love with two people,
in the same space and time…

She was attracted by the opposites,
she was pulled by the signs…

She was flying in the face,
of all she’d been taught…

The rules that she lived by and
her God given thoughts…

She’d given her heart completely,
connected with their minds…

But in searching for some answers,
only questions did she find…

What was this love anyway,
what did this love really mean…

And did something even exist,
when it’s felt but never seen…

Was this love a crime of passion,
or just a slow burning fire…

Filled with trinkets of deception,
laced with flashes of cruel desire…

Was it built upon the foundations,
of her need to feel wanted…

A place of simple sanctuary,
she could cling to and be bonded…

So she didn’t have to travel,
this cold Earth all alone…

And be haunted by the loneliness,
inside her heart and home…

Or was this just that feeling,
the Devil’s playground brings…

Which fooled her into thinking,
that sinners sometimes win…

Yet it felt much more than lust,
distorting her guilt-ridden mind…

Perhaps she could love two people,
without it being a crime…

But it caused so much heartache,
slowly sent her insane…

Everyday became a battle,
filled with so much pain…

And she couldn’t find the answers,
getting way out of her depth…

In desperation, she ended it all,
leaving behind a statement for the press…

The little bird sits,
in the eye of the storm…

On a darkened rooftop,
all tattered and torn…

Her feathers all ruffled,
hiding new scars…

She’s looking for refuge,
under falling stars…

Searching for calm and
any kind of sanctuary…

Somewhere to hide,
until she can be free…

And it is all over,
when she will again fly…

In-between the sunset and
the dark moonlit sky…

But until that time,
the angry storm rages…

And each painful day,
writes new chapters and pages…

Of a complicated story,
where this little bird got lost…

Before finding herself,
without realising the cost…

As in a circle with three sides,
she got caught in-between…

And only pure sinners,
could feel what she’s seen…

As dodging the lightning,
became her awakening…

And a thirst for excitement,
became so very frightening…

Forcing a conclusion and
igniting Hell’s fire…

Which seeks out the truth,
as the flames reach higher…

Now sat on that rooftop,
it feels so out of control…

And the little bird attempts,
to reclaim her soul…
