Deception…

~

He knew what you were to him…
Nothing more and nothing less…

A single beacon of shining light
In a dark ocean full of stress

You were there when it mattered…
In the right place at the right time

Offering the hand of friendship
Throwing him a slender lifeline

Someone who he could turn to…
Independently listening to his pain…

But who never sat in judgement
With seemingly nothing to gain

And as the months went by
The levels of trust slowly escalated…

He felt he could tell you anything
Without feeling so humiliated…

Disclosing all his dark secrets
Exposing all his hidden sins

Things he’d never told anybody…
That’s how deep he let you in

But his mind was so fragile
He was not thinking straight

He began to fall deep so quickly…
As your eyes began to captivate…

You entered all his dark dreams
And he started to fantasise

That you could be together
A thought that tantalized

But poisoned your relationship…
From the second you kissed back…

Leaving him in a lustful daze
Unaware he’d walked into your trap…

Into your spider’s web of deceit
A labyrinth of devious white lies

Not realising all you’d said to him
Was just part of your disguise

And he never saw it coming
It was a cleverly constructed sham…

As you were never just a shoulder
And deception was all part of the plan

The Green Green grass…
Looked Greener over there…

She had often wondered…
But never really dared…

What would it be like…
How good would it taste…

If there was an opportunity…
That was too good to waste…

Would he sweep her off her feet…
Sprinkle stardust in her eyes…

Would she be able to manage…
Could she live with the lies…

One day fate took a hand…
Unlocked a bolted door…

She found herself drinking…
And she just wanted more…

The taste so forbidden…
Tasted so fucking good…

She would do this forever…
If only she could…

His sweet lips like sugar…
His mouth hot and wet…

Her nails would dig into him…
And she wasn’t finished yet…

Like no one before him…
He owned her very soul…

This Devil and demon…
Who made her feel whole…

He became her only drug…
She craved him so much…

Loving everything about him…
Going so weak at his touch…

But one day he left her…
And found someone new…

Falling deeply in love…
And that love was so true…

She was left by the roadside…
As his life swiftly moved on…

She went back to reality…
But no longer belonged…

The grass hadn’t changed…
It was just as before…

It lacked the excitement…
And remained such a bore…

So she lived in her mind…
And just dreamt of his face…

Managing to keep the secret…
Till a message she misplaced…

When the truth was revealed…
It was met with much pain…

Within a matter of hours…
She was alone once again…

Just her and the memories…
Mixed with painful goodbyes…

Realising the grass wasn’t Greener…
S
tardust had just blinded her eyes…
