“She was, an American girl”…

Wishing all my American readers a very Happy Fourth of July…

The electrical storm…
Raged high overhead…

Deep in the night…
As she lay in her bed…

Piercing the darkness…
Lighting up the sky…

Like a firework display…
On the Fourth of July…

Her dreams in tatters…
Something had died…

There was nothing left…
Behind tear-stained eyes…

Just a wall of silence…
And a vast black void…

A haunting reminder…
Of what she destroyed…

As her venomous tongue…
Fired arrows, sharp & twisted…

She lost all control…
But as the red mist lifted…

She realised the hurt…
And saw all his wounds…

But was unable to recover…
Knew they were doomed…

Destroying any trust…
That had once flourished…

Broke his kind heart…
That she once cherished…

And pushed him away…
Built so many walls…

Till he finally craved solitude…
Time away from it all…

As he’d forgiven so much…
So many of her mistakes…

But this time was different…
And he had to escape…

So he left in the rain…
Running far, far away…

Leaving her broken…
Filled with regret & dismay…

A beautiful tribute…
To such a terrible day…
When it all fell apart…
In the most dramatic way…
The actions of others…
Cost such a high price…
Did they ever think about it…
Or even blink twice…
About their mission…
Of suicide and murder…
Leaving the world stunned…
As the city screamed, we heard her…
Watching as it unfolded…
Hearts and minds confused…
Was this really happening…
This heart breaking news…
Reality was ripped apart…
Seeing terror on their faces…
And the gravity sunk in…
As a cloud of dust replaces…
The double tower skyline…
And a city under fire…
Where heroes were forged…
Out of pride and of desire…
To help the stranded victims…
Those poor innocent souls…
Wrong place, wrong time…
Creating lasting holes…
In families and communities…
Wounds that will never heal…
The collateral damage…
Of the perpetrator’s deal…
We will never forget them…
But as time moves on…
The city started to rebuild…
Showing terrorism is wrong…
Whilst remembering their lost…
Honouring those who died…
Each individual that was taken…
With such poignant pride…
