There came a horseman riding in,
Riding in the morning.
There came a horseman riding in,
Riding in the morning.

The townsfolk gathered round about
To see why he was roaring
In pain. He slid from off his mount
And fell beneath an awning.

There came a horseman riding in,
Riding in the morning.
There came a horseman riding in,
Riding in the morning.

The doctor noted he was sick,
So sick he wasn’t stirring:
‘I don’t know what is wrong with him,
So sick he isn’t stirring.’

The horseman grabbed the doctor’s vest
And whispered in his auras:
‘The plague, my dear doctor.’ He drew a breath;
He died that very morning.

There’s no everlasting love
when life is never lasting.
I miss you, Jean.
I miss you in that way
that the embers of dreams
try to rekindle themselves
when you wake up from something
so precious and everlasting.
When I wake up you’re not here
and my heart feels void of time.
I miss you, Jean.
I miss you in that way that
dust settles and portraits of
landscapes seem to possess
dreams and futures that have
nowhere to run and escape.
I miss you, Jean.
I miss you and I love you
in that way that faith has a way
of carrying a dance forever and on.

The Truth…

~

He’s not the man you thought he was…
You can see it deep in his eyes

That mask he’s worn every day…
Was a thin and fragile disguise

Constructed of smoke and mirrors…
It relied upon casual distraction

Keeping you from seeing the truth…
Kept you away from the real action

As he struck a deal with the Devil
Upon turning the age of Thirty Three…

And in exchange for sinful pleasures
He handed over his soul so willingly

But you would never have known it…
As he kept it all so well hidden

And from the outside looking in
You’d never see all that’s forbidden…

Nor the sweet fruit that he’d tasted
Or the lives that he had destroyed…

Whilst he took just what he wanted
Breaking hearts like childrens toys

But now he drowns in the darkness
Long gone are those days of light

His vision is now clouded by sadness…
Regret replaces those once lustful nights

As the sands of time are running out
And he is counting down the days

All that remains are the flashbacks
Vivid memories trap him in a maze

Whilst he faces up to the grim reality
That his time on Earth is now short

He could not escape this forever…
Immortality could never be bought…

And that fear of what is coming…
The Hell that will be his prison

Fills his cold heart with a panic
As he knows he can’t be forgiven

There’s nothing more he can do
The damage has already been done…

And the next chapter that he faces…
Will be full of Fire and Brimstone…

Unchained…

~

It’s time for you to leave now…
Time that you were set free…

He’s unlocked you from the chains…
That caused you such misery…

So it’s time to turn your back…
And try to forget everything…

Take this chance to walk away…
Extract his venomous sting…

It’s time for you to move on…
Embrace the lessons learnt…

Avoiding this, the next time round…
So your fingers won’t get burnt…

Go and find somebody new…
Erase him from your life…

Find someone who deserves you…
Who won’t cut you with his knife…

As it’s time to stop the bleeding…
Try let the deep wounds heal…

Allow time for them to scar over…
Whilst remembering the deal…

One that was made between you…
One that got you into this mess…

From being so open and so honest…
It became a tortured game of chess…

Yet it’s time now to be truthful…
This wasn’t a table set for one…

There are three sides to the story…
Two desperate souls having fun…

But things never work out well…
When emotions get intertwined…

Those words spat out in anger…
Can’t get taken back in rewind…

So it’s time to stop the hating…
And pointing fingers at the others…

Things didn’t go as you’d hoped…
You can only blame one another…

Now it’s time for you to leave…
You really are free to go…

He no longer holds those chains…
But he’ll reap what he has sown…

Second Prize…

girlls

~

He never was yours…
Despite anything he said…

His lies filled the silence…
Just fucking with your head…

He sucked on your soul…
Like a vampire sucking blood…

He drained your emotions…
Whilst feasting on the flood…

Because the boy had a heart…
Which loved two things…

The twisted demon’s darkness…
And the angel’s white wings…

You were caught in between…
The push and the pull…

Forwards then backwards…
Till your poor head was full…

And it left you spinning…
Around and around…

Never quite knowing…
Feet never on firm ground…

One moment you felt special…
The next you felt used…

An emotional roller-coaster…
That was designed to confuse…

As he chased your distraction…
And the excitement it brings…

Which made him feel alive…
Made his distorted soul sing…

He craved sinful electricity…
And your safety never compared…

But he needed both to live…
That’s why he wasn’t prepared…

To commit to you completely…
And live just half a life…

He took the best of both worlds…
Danced on the edge of the knife…

Never really telling the truth…
Never caring that you cried…

And though you never gave up hope…
You would always be second prize…

Deception…

~

He knew what you were to him…
Nothing more and nothing less…

A single beacon of shining light
In a dark ocean full of stress

You were there when it mattered…
In the right place at the right time

Offering the hand of friendship
Throwing him a slender lifeline

Someone who he could turn to…
Independently listening to his pain…

But who never sat in judgement
With seemingly nothing to gain

And as the months went by
The levels of trust slowly escalated…

He felt he could tell you anything
Without feeling so humiliated…

Disclosing all his dark secrets
Exposing all his hidden sins

Things he’d never told anybody…
That’s how deep he let you in

But his mind was so fragile
He was not thinking straight

He began to fall deep so quickly…
As your eyes began to captivate…

You entered all his dark dreams
And he started to fantasise

That you could be together
A thought that tantalized

But poisoned your relationship…
From the second you kissed back…

Leaving him in a lustful daze
Unaware he’d walked into your trap…

Into your spider’s web of deceit
A labyrinth of devious white lies

Not realising all you’d said to him
Was just part of your disguise

And he never saw it coming
It was a cleverly constructed sham…

As you were never just a shoulder
And deception was all part of the plan

The Damned…

~

In the cold valley of the dead…
Where the moon refuses to rise…

The beaten and the damned…
Slowly walk, with lifeless eyes…

Carrying their sinful burden…
Weighed down by their crimes…

Committed in the knowledge…
That there would come a time…

Payment would be expected…
For the sullied lives they led…

And for each dark indiscretion…
A strand of soul would be shed…

Leading them to this silent place…
Where there is no form of mercy…

Where their devils and their demons…
Became jailers in this purgatory…

Injecting visions into their heads…
Replaying flashbacks of the past…

A constant and daily reminder…
A mental punishment that will last…

Ensuring the blood on their hands…
Will never wash clean in the river…

And permanently staining their sight…
So whenever they search in a mirror…

They witness the horror before them…
See the monsters they’ve become…

And in their descent into this evil…
Became property of the snakelike one…

Who must carry their deepest secrets…
Beyond earth’s unforgiving cold grave…

Understanding they are lost forever…
With no chance that someone will save…

As it was part of the deal they signed…
Which was then sealed by their actions…

And the small print in the contract…
Prevented any last ditch retraction…

From the cold valley of the damned…
Where the sinners will always rise…

Once their time on earth is over…
And silver coins cover their eyes…
