~
She loved from a distance…
Every piece of his soul…
She was dazzled by his charm…
Tried hard to remain in control…
And keep hold of her senses…
Whenever he would appear…
Under the guise of friendship…
That lasted year upon year…
And was always there for him…
Listened intently as he sighed…
Though her dreams at night…
Left her so fucking terrified…
As she never told him the truth…
How she really felt inside…
She never dared to open up…
She kept the feelings denied…
Did he ever really notice…
Did his eyes ever really see…
That her friendship was a mirror…
Deflecting such intensity…
As the fire that burned within her…
Consumed her day and night…
She fantasised about his face…
And she could never really fight…
When he called upon her…
And poured out all his woes…
Her shoulders bore his weight…
This was the role she chose…
As his heart was with another…
And hers was married away…
Such an impossible situation…
That went on day after day…
Until the fateful moment…
When the pretence collapsed…
A simple misplaced sentence…
Left her reeling and poleaxed…
Pushing her into the darkness…
Where silence now fills the void…
As she desperately tries to erase…
All her memories of that boy…
