Twisted…

The truth is always twisted…
History is always rewritten…

Carefully designed to suit…
Those who play the victim…

The ones who create drama…
Living in their own dimension…

Always angled in the spotlight…
And craving all the attention…

With little regard to others…
Hiding in the dark shadows…

The ones hit by the fall out…
Whose version nobody knows…

As they watch it all in silence…
Trying to remain so dignified…

Wanting to scream and shout…
Wanting to redress all of the lies…

But the story has been presented…
And told so many times…

Fiction becomes the truth…
The accused guilty of all crimes…

Leaving a sense of injustice…
That may not ever heal…

As the feeling of worthlessness…
Becomes fact and becomes real…

And carried every single day…
No matter how they try…

As in the kingdom of the blind…
No one hears innocence cry…

Or ever stops to wonder…
If what they’re told is real…

Or question ulterior motives…
Examine how they’re made to feel…

But life always moves forward…
And people always find a way…

To make the best of the situation…
Make it through another day…

In the midst of all the drama…
No matter how the truth is bent…

Whilst the people who cry victim…
Continue their lonely decent…

  1. I love how your poems are inspired by songs and that you acknowledge it. I’ve always loved “Sounds of Silence” but this cover from Disturbed really touches me, more than the original. There video concept is also inspired. Thank you for your poem. I do see the where went from the song.
