Reveal yourself…
Rise to the surface…
From the hidden depths…
Shed the worthless…
And free yourself…
From those chains…
The ties that bind…
The mental pain…
That has you submerged…
In a realm of darkness…
Where all you feel…
Is tinged with sadness…
As all that you view…
And all that you see…
Are tiny little splinters…
Of pure unbridled misery…
It’s time to purge yourself…
Of those dark dreams…
That trapped your mind…
Within a silent scream…
And release yourself…
From a depressive shell…
That hateful prison…
The cruel mental cell…
Try to stop yourself…
From looking back…
Over your shoulder…
Remembering each attack…
Try teaching yourself…
That it’s now history…
And try to create…
A brand new story…
Where you can love…
And all that stands for…
Knowing you’re not perfect…
But you can begin to soar…
Into the forgiving sky…
As you were not to blame…
So walk from the wreckage…
And shed your shame…

Poem inspired by the song: Into A Pearl
Singer: Justin Currie
My beautiful cousin killed herself and stated it always seemed she and life were not meant to get along. Having struggled for years with depression, you share a touching post. My therapist reminds me I am not defined by my depression. Walking away from the wreckage is worth the steps!
Thank you for sharing Rick and I am sorry to hear about your cousin – stay strong – Cheers J
Reblogged this on nzidemybrane.
Thank you for the reblog – much appreciated – Cheers J
Absolutely! I am one who always speaks up and defends those who chose to take their own life when people say how selfish they were! People need to understand and be more educated before they speak or actually just not Judge at all! There is a true point that is reached, unfortunately, that we feel we are actually more toxic to people around us and they would truly be better without us! It’s sad but very true…
Sad but true indeed – thanks again for taking time to read and comment, dont be a stranger! Cheers J
Very touching reminder that we are more than our experiences.
Thank you Claire, I always look forward to your comments – Cheers J

A reminder of some dark times my path took me into. A reminder that, no matter how bad it seems, there is sunlight just ahead.
Thanks Jack – glad you are now moving in the light! Cheers J
