~
She never was yours…
Despite anything she said…
Her lies filled the silence…
Just fucking with your head…
She sucked on your soul…
Like a vampire sucking blood…
She drained your emotions…
Whilst feasting on the flood…
Because the girl had a heart…
Which loved two things…
The twisted demon’s darkness…
And the angel’s white wings…
You were caught in between…
The push and the pull…
Forwards then backwards…
Till your poor head was full…
And it left you spinning…
Around and around…
Never quite knowing…
Feet never on firm ground…
One moment you felt special…
The next you felt used…
An emotional roller-coaster…
That was designed to confuse…
As she chased distraction…
And the excitement it brings…
Which made her feel alive…
Made her distorted soul sing…
She craved sinful electricity…
And your safety never compared…
But she needed both to live…
That’s why she wasn’t prepared…
To commit to you completely…
And live just half a life…
She took the best of both worlds…
Danced on the edge of the knife…
Never really telling the truth…
Never caring that you cried…
And though you never gave up hope…
You were always second prize…

Wow. That one hit too close to home. Just change the he to she and add 30 years to the mix. Thank you for putting into words what my heart lacks the eloquence to say.
Thanks, I don’t normally post the same poem twice in this way, but this one seemed to work from both “he” and “she” viewpoints and I also had 2 songs in my head. Both have merit I think – glad you connected – Cheers J
Wow! This poem is powerful! I could feel the emotion! It brought back so many memories. You captured it perfectly. ❤
Thank you for your kind words Carisa – Cheers J
Close to home for me too… I almost feel like I am/ have been, unwittingly her. 😦
Universal themes will always strike a chord somewhere I guess Blackheart – am glad you connected with this – Cheers J

Oh wow! This is powerful. It’s dark, but so beautiful. I love this very much. Wonderful work here. I love the rhymes in this one too. It’s very lyrical. They all are, but I hear the music to this one very clearly. Nice!
Thank you for your kind words – much appreciated – Cheers J
