Welcome to the dark side…
On the edge of the abyss…
A place submerged in shadows…
Where the fallen angels kiss…
And whisper to each other…
Forbidden fantasies and lies…
All the secrets of this world…
Carried on the wings of flies…
Delivered like a message…
On an arrow tipped with fire…
Lighting up the blackness…
Where the ungodly do conspire…
The ones who roam silently…
Trapped within a falling tear…
Who no longer feel emotion…
No hate, no love, no fear…
The lost and the damned…
In a state of perpetual strife…
Who never saw this coming…
Slept walked through their life…
But now pay for their sins…
And the path they chose…
As their moments of distraction…
Became the thorns of a rose…
Now embedded in their soul…
And tearing at their skin…
An everlasting reminder…
Of the eternal Hell they’re in…
A place where human kindness…
Never began to even exist…
And demons in your dreams…
Infect, distort and twist…
Whilst in the vivid nightmares…
Your mind is filled with doubt…
As suddenly it hits you…
There is really no way out…
And as memories begin to fade…
Numbness will replace any fear…
Now was it worth the price…
Your soul has paid to get here…

Glad you enjoyed – Cheers J
this is what I really meant to send
That is so incredible. Exactly how i feel most of the time. Don’t need to watch the video to comprehend. 🙂
Thank you – but hope you heard the song in the end – very powerful – Cheers J
I will check it out then
I am not very good at listening, do what you can to survive. OK, always have
I prefer to be full of sh!*
We were born in the same year, ironical 1973?
It seems so ! Cheers J
All the secrets of the world carried on the wings of flies….that was brilliant
Amazing!
Thank you Raphaela! Cheers J
So rarely, I have found, that most modern poetry doesn’t have any rhyming to it…which I happened to enjoy when done right. This was beautiful!
Thank you for your kind words – I occasionally try not to rhyme, but I prefer to – it’s just my way of doing things – Glad you enjoyed! Cheers J
I prefer rhyming too. I don’t know why so much emphasis is put on free verse. But it’s fun to dabble in from time to time.
Not sure, maybe it’s really for the grown ups – when I tried my work in the poetry forums, it got slammed for rhymes, so I just do my own thing… Makes me happy… Cheers J
Another brilliant piece, J…we love this..speaks to each of us in a different way..how do you do that thing you do? Sometimes it is worth the price…Sometimes there was no choice given……..~~ccchanel….
Thank you ladies – your kind words embed into my soul as ever – much love – Cheers J
intense…
A good thing? Cheers J
I like it. It works and it has structure that holds it together. I have sent an email.
Thank you – I replied, so hope it got through – Cheers J
Yes it did, and thanks.
Wow. Really like this one.
I have been suffering from a very deep depression the last two weeks, and this kind of describes my state of being. (Am climbing out of the hole slowly.)
Sorry to hear that my friend, if there is anything I can help with – email anytime – eyewillnotcry@hotmail.co.uk – Cheers J
Excellently penned Jamie, great structure and rhyme … holding the tension of the opposites has been my theme of the week I feel. Love how ‘pregnant’ your darkness feels … the abyss, always unavoidable … necessary even.
Thank you for such a wonderful comment Deborah, much appriecated – Cheers J
