Immersed in the silence…
Standing high above…
Away from all the chaos…
With the view of a dove…
Looking down upon them…
Invisible to them all…
The only time they’ll notice…
Is when the ground halts her fall…
She doesn’t know how she got here…
Her day has been a blur…
But the voices keep on talking…
And she’s no strength left to defer…
As this moment has been coming…
She’s grown darker by the day…
Her demons kept tormenting…
Her depression wouldn’t go away…
She’s been looking for an answer…
She’s been praying for a sign…
An end to her inner turmoil…
By some heavenly design…
But the gods have not listened…
Despite all the preachers lies…
Leaving her no other option…
But to sever all her ties…
And as she stands there gazing….
At what lies far below…
She thinks of her family…
Who just didn’t want to know…
The friends who didn’t notice…
And never heard her pleas…
Whist the voices in her head…
Finally forced her to her knees…
To this point of no return…
A place of darkness and despair…
Where her life has no meaning…
Amongst a pile of unanswered prayers…
Leaving only pain and anger…
Pushing her closer to the edge…
And in a desperate bid for freedom…
She steps off the ledge…

writing sometimes something more positive Joost?:)
Plenty of other blogs around for happy stuff 😊 Cheers J
Ok Jon, that was a joke;-)
All good – a little ray of light on it’s way, but not written by me 😛 – and still not Jon 😉 Cheers J
Fantastic words and such a detail image of how what feels.
Beautifully well written. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words Charlie – Cheers J
You have really captured the essence of where ultimate despair comes from. The saddest thing, I think, is to contemplate that for every person that steps “off the ledge”, there are so many more who are still suffering. Stepping closer each day… I feel that this poem is less depressing, and more inspiring to listen better to the suffering around me.
Thank you for your insightful comment Claire – there is always light and shade within the darkness I write, it depends on viewpoint and interpretation – some read my words as depressing, others read a leap of faith to freedom – each are valid in their own way and each have its own merits. Cheers J
And stepping off the ledge
she learned, to her surprise
that she could, indeed, fly
🙂
Beautiful ending – but I would have had to choose another song to soundtrack this version – maybe turn the central character from She to a He and use: https://youtu.be/htfy83TiYP8 – May repost this way sometime – Cheers J
Beautifully painful to read.
Thank you Keith – how are things with you? Cheers J
Finishing a 2 week holiday and then packing up my car and driving 2,000km to join my wife who’s living in Florida. Hectic and frightening but a grand adventure!
I hope you’re not talking about yourself.
Thank you – there are fragements of me in everything I write, but mainly fiction 🙂 – Cheers J
