Walking through the rain…
In the city of the dead…
A thousand years of history…
A million tears shed…
Dreams that have crumbled…
Trampled under the feet…
Of a weary population…
Who no longer see it…
Passing by the tombstones…
And the inscribed names…
Never stopping to wonder…
Focused only on their shame…
The burden they each carry…
Inside their sinful hearts…
Struggling through the day…
As monotony once again starts…
Like automated robots…
With a program to follow…
Missing the point of life…
Hearts wooden and hollow…
In a world that’s become…
About the here and now…
Obsessed with consumerism…
And the latest cash cow…
It wasn’t always like this…
It used to mean much more…
A world filled with pride…
That only exists in folklore…
Now stories are passed down…
Laced with mild frustration…
Falling on the deaf ears…
Of this current generation…
About what was once a kingdom…
That’s forever buried and lost…
Whilst the beaten and damned…
Quietly sit and count the cost…
Under a dark rain cloud…
In the city of the dead…
Where no one hears the screaming…
Or a single word that’s said…

Very touching…deep with thought and emotion. Lots of feeling went into this. Sounds like a sort of lament to me…

Not sure I have talent – this is just therapy! Cheers J
The talent isn’t in question here, it is evident. And I agree, poetic expression through words and song is natural therapy.
🙂
Very kind – thank you! Cheers J
When expectations meet reality we find who we really is.

Awake, awake somnambulists and hear the city’s cries…
Cast off, cast off greedy ennui and let your spirits fly…
