~
A walking contradiction,
A constant stream of lies…
Hidden behind a smile and
a hypnotising pair of eyes…
Telling all the stories,
that you want to hear…
Ones that make you laugh and
the ones that shed a tear…
Just for entertainment,
doing it to be heard…
To never be forgotten,
as they hang on every word…
But all of it is fantasy,
nothing said is real…
It’s all just a side show,
in order to feel…
There is something more,
more to this cruel world…
As each day slowly passes and
the monotony unfurls…
Trying to feel something,
other than the pain…
Trying to feel the warmth,
instead of ice cold rain…
That numbs all the senses and
leads to every single day…
Becoming so monotonous,
in each and every way…
But by twisting and distorting,
whilst playing with broken mirrors…
A different world is created,
one that hides all the fears…
And allows space to function,
in such a dysfunctional life…
Allowing a tinge of excitement,
amidst the mundane strife…
And for stolen moments,
giving freedom to the soul…
To walk in shoes of others and
for a moment, feel in control…

Wow wonderful.
Thank you for your kind words – Cheers J
This is actually quite depressing… Luckily there was the kind of happy ending 😉
Great poem, J! Love it! ❤

I am currently rehearsing the role of Banjo, a manic character in, “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” a 1939 Hart and Kaufman comedy that a local community theater will be performing next month. I think you summed up the symbiosis Banjo and I have quite nicely. Thanks, as always!
Thanks Keith – hope it all goes well! Cheers J
