What on earth was happening…
His head revolved so fast…
At the mention of her name…
Or whenever she walked past…
The smell of her perfume…
Those eyes that just bewitched…
Took him to another place…
At the quick flick of a switch…
To a place outside reality…
Where nothing else exists…
Just a sense of longing…
For her arms and for her kiss…
And to hear her whisper softly…
Tell him everything’s alright…
As he battled all the demons…
That kept him awake at night…
Accepting all his faults…
That he was not perfect…
And he would make mistakes…
But it would all be worth it…
When the good times came…
At the end of the night…
And in her arms he’d lay…
Till the cold morning light…
Because he needed her so much…
More than he could ever say…
He wanted her so badly…
It had always been that way…
From the very first moment…
That she came into view…
She became his fantasy…
And destroyed all he held true…
All his long standing virtues…
The man he thought he was…
Fell quickly by the wayside…
And simply all because…
Of those eyes that glinted…
And the way she walked…
Plus a great intelligence…
Projected when she talked…
But she was a Devil…
How was he to know…
Hidden deep in disguise…
As she put on a show…
Hiding all her feelings…
Telling secret lies…
From behind her mask…
She had her reasons why…
But she kept them close…
And refused to reveal…
Hid behind her mirrors…
Distorted what was real…
Now she’s no longer listening…
To a single word that’s said…
She’s got him out of her mind…
Removed him from her head…
Extracted him from within…
Ejected him from her heart…
From where he didn’t belong…
Right from the very start…
Now he doesn’t know what’s hit him…
Things have moved so fast…
As he never saw it coming…
And feels like such an outcast…

Beautiful poem
Very kind of you to stop by and say – Cheers J
Your welcome
Wow. I was so hopeful until “Projected when she talked… But she was a Devil…” Should have known better! So sad, so well done, love this one. Still, I was hoping there…
Well Keith, frankly yes you should 😃 Cheers J
I liked this poem and tragedy. It’s great. I have to say it is a way of life

Thanks Eddie – You too! Cheers J
Why no happy ends ever, J. . . 😦
Happy Endings are for fairy tales – no place in reality M’lady 😃 – To be honest, I just can’t write happy stuff – ask Iris – she has been trying to get me to for ages! Cheers J
Haha, it’s true. J is just awesome at the dark and twisted 🙂
Man, even Shakespeare had a little bit of light in the tragedy. . . Interesting though, interesting stuff you write, although I will chose to be on the light side. 🙂
Poor guy…
Indeed! Cheers J
