He was running out of time…
And heading for the stars…
His conscience was heavy…
And his heart full of scars…
He was losing his mind…
Detaching from cruel reality…
His head spinning around…
And verging on insanity…
A kaleidoscope of colours…
Began infecting his sight…
With such distorted visions…
That lit up his final night…
As a girl sat next to him…
Started speaking fluent French…
Edging closer and closer…
On a cold wooden bench…
She had the Devil in her eyes…
Was not making any sense…
As the Angels and Demons…
Began their hallucinating dance…
With Twenty serpents in her hair…
And a fire between her thighs…
Her pointed words held no truth…
Just perfectly constructed lies…
That snaked into his ears…
Forcing him to stop and listen…
As the snow started falling…
And the shimmering frost glistened…
Under a witching midnight moon…
Who watched his dream unfold…
But didn’t offer any escape…
Didn’t offer to stop his world…
From spinning round and round…
At a million miles an hour…
As her tongue entered his mouth…
Leaving him spellbound by the power…
Of a Thousand kisses deep…
That ripped into his soul…
While this dream descends into chaos…
And he finally loses control…

You are welcome, J 🙂 Cheers
One of the most beautifully devastating songs out there, elegant and heartrending. A song made for nighttime and brandeh (Cohen accent 😛 ). Perfect match with your words while reading and listening at the same time. You depicted wonderfully the sweetest deception, the fiery lust/passion, the shattered dream and the shipwrecked aftermath that has a bittersweet aura of its own. It was as deep as a thousand kisses. Well done and thanks a lot!
Thank you for suggesting such an amazing song and I am glad you think I did it justice – Cheers J
I love this one, thanks for posting it.
You are welcome Jean, thanks for stopping by to comment – Cheers J
Bedazzling and beautiful!
Thank you – I am not sure if I have ever bedazzled before! Such a great word! Cheers J
Thanks for the great poem, and the tribute to the greatest living poet there is IMHO. Mr Cohen is a true Canadian legend.
It certainly was a great song choice – I intend to get to know more of Mr Cohen’s work – glad you liked! Cheers J
