“I met her in the shadow”…

standing-at-the-crossroad

~

She’s standing at the crossroads…
Doesn’t know which way to choose…
She feels backed into a corner…
No matter what, she’ll lose…
Does she stick or does she twist…
In this simple game of life…
Should she follow the right path…
Or keep left, dancing with the knife…

And a life filled with danger…
Where his forbidden lips call…
Up on the mountains edge…
Knowing that she may fall…
Whilst risking everything…
Ignoring all common sense…
And into his lusting arms…
In a life of such pretence…

Where everything feels different…
And her senses come alive…
Where electricity flows through her veins…
She needs this feeling to survive…
She craves his lips upon her…
She wants him deep inside…
She knows it’s wrong and sinful…
But without him she would die…

But she fights a constant battle…
With all her conscience voices…
On her shoulder, sat in judgement…
And mocking all her choices…
Making her feel guilty…
And underlining all her sins…
In between this rock and stone…
There is no way she can win…

Now she’s at the crossroads…
There is no right way to choose…
No escape from this dark corner…
It’s either love or lust she’ll lose…
And therein lies the twist…
In this simple game of life…
Because she simply needs both…
To feel whole, to feel alive…

  1. J,
I am in love with this one. Please stop me when I say this with so many. But it is true. I cannot just simply write the entire poem again here…but what strikes me without just doing that and encapsulates it all for me:
She feels backed into a corner…
    No matter what, she’ll lose…

Where electricity flows through her veins…
She needs this feeling to survive…

    Because she simply needs both…
To feel whole, to feel alive…

The entire piece for me is heartbreaking, raw, powerful, sensual, and real. Truly love this. And the song…had never heard before but loved it! Perfect with this. Another bow to my master of words…and my beautiful escape. Cheers -alex
