This was your life…
So what have you done…
Are you filled with pride…
Or had it only just begun…
Do you look backwards…
In wonder and in awe…
Or was it all wasted…
Like so many before…
Did you rule the world…
Make it a better place…
Or did you quietly hide…
Always seeking an escape…
Escape from your misery…
Never appreciating the good…
A crime we’re all guilty of…
Even the best of us should…
Take the time more often…
To look outside our mind…
The Stars and the Sunset…
All free and all sublime…
Yet taken for granted…
And we just internalise…
As life passes so swiftly…
Before we’ve even realised…
And we get to this point…
Wondering what we’ve done…
Just what is our legacy…
What battles have we won…
The hearts we have broken…
And souls we have scarred…
Those long since forgotten…
The loved ones we discard…
Who’s left at this point…
Anyone who still cares…
Who stuck by you all this time…
You’re surprised they’re still there…
After the way you treated them…
Because it wasn’t always good…
You could be such a Bastard…
And regret acting like a fool…
Because this was your life…
This is what you’ve become…
And it wasn’t a rehearsal…
You had one chance, only one…

This certainly makes you think and the song is a perfect compliment to your fabulous words. (even though its one song that tears my heart apart, R.I.P Freddie)

beautiful – but I believe we have an infinite number of moments of sweetness, peace, freedom, love, and mercy in our life in each now that we allow to fully be…

A brilliant piece for reflection, J 🙂
Thank you Florence – glad you enjoyed – Cheers J
Every day I try to remember and act on this, sometimes I even succeed. Thanks.
Me too Keith but the succeeding is more often outweighted by the failure to take a step back as I go about the daily grind! Cheers J
Very thought provoking. I believe that everyone gets to a stage in their life when they start to question what it’s all about, thinking of the things we shouldn’t have done and things we should have done and yes, it all goes by so quickly and we only have one chance, this is no rehearsal.
Indeed! Thank you for your kind and insightful comment – Cheers J
