Bruises that exist everywhere…
Take time to ever recover…
Mental scars…
They appear like stars…
Within our head…
Like a poison we dread…
Open wounds that never heal…
Our life force “THEY” steal…
Was this part of the deal…
“THEY” never said…
Deceived us instead…
Smoke and fucking mirrors…
Never seeing past…
Those clever conceptual life traps…
And the bird that flaps…
Its wings…
The simple joy it brings…
When we hear it sing…
Yet the tears, they sting…
As they drip…
As reality takes a strong grip…
And holds on so very tight…
Like fucking thieves in the night…
“THEY” remove your soul…
The essence that makes you whole…
And steal your heart…
Taking it bit by bit…
Ever so slowly, ripping it apart…
It’s what “THEY” have done…
Since we were young…
It’s what “THEY” stole…
From you…
~
This is very nice
Thank you for stopping by to say so Lindsey! Cheers J
“stole from you” is right — these scar leaving energy stealing thieves have no idea that they are stealing a part of another person’s being – a part they may one day heal from, but never fully get back. ❤
You are so right Kimberly – thanks for the insightful comment – Cheers J
So many pieces of my heart are either missing or scattered about in places they no longer belong. I so understand J. ((((hugs))). Much love to you. ❤ Kimberly
Thank you Kimberly – such kind words as ever – Cheers J
You’re very, very welcome. I love your genuine sharing. ❤ J ❤ K 🙂
Love this, J! ❤
Thank you!! Cheers J
Hey J, wow, this is really powerful! I read this several times. Lately, your poetic voice has been a bit different with some of your poems, I’ve been meaning to share that with you. All great, just different, and l like that! Maybe this is an older piece, I don’t know, but definitely very, very good! Really, do we ever recover, or do we just cover it up? Hum, much to think about.
Always warm wishes,
Pepper
Pepper – as ever your comment is insightful and well thought out – this was an older piece that I polished a bit – been looking back at my writing from when my father was ill and subsequently passed – also looking at a vanity project of collating my work into a book – so there may be a few more repeats! re – my poetic voice – I still am unsure what mine is – I vary styles and topics to avoid being repeatative and dull – but somethings work – others don’t – however at the time there is significance – so am content to keep going where I am led – hope that makes some sense and thanks for stopping by – Cheers J
J, thank you for such a thoughtful response. “Vanity Project”, good for you! I think that’s marvelous to put your work into a book, art is meant to be shared, otherwise artists wouldn’t wade through all the crap that they do. Perhaps that is the only way artists can share on such a personal level, and hope that others can relate, or grab some emotion to hang on to, thus causing them to feel something. As far as “voice”, I think this also is in a constant state of change, which is good. We have such a wide range of emotions, why not have a wide range of voice as well? Maybe our most powerful creativity stems from the most emotional aspects of our lives, just a thought. Please forgive my lengthy reply.
Warm wishes,
Pepper
Nothing to forgive Pepper and thank you, I agree with all you wrote – Cheers J
