Catching her reflection,
in the dirty window pane…
Not recognising the woman,
the sad image contains…
Eyes just blankly staring,
not giving any clues…
Of the insanity behind them,
or the weapon that she used…
Eyes once full of promise,
of innocence and hope…
That her actions tore apart,
leaving behind two empty holes…
Entry points into her soul,
which is now so dark and black…
Too late to make a difference,
too late to bring him back…
As she paid the price for flying,
too close to the abyss…
For the mistakes she made and
the venom in his kiss…
She knew it from the second,
that she saw his eyes…
And she melted in the moment,
falling headlong for his lies…
But as he ascended to heaven,
her brain went into shock…
Beginning a downward spiral,
one that she could never stop…
Leaving behind this broken shell,
becoming numb to any pain…
Without the strength to carry on,
or try to begin again…
Now she sits there staring,
blankly through the rain…
As the condensation gathers,
on that dirty window pane…
Remembering how she killed him,
but never explaining why…
Or regretting her evil actions,
that kissed his soul goodbye…
