~
She gave the Red rose freely,
pushed it into his hand…
Told him that she loved him,
but he didn’t understand…
The meaning of her words,
the intenseness in her eyes…
It all happened so damn quickly,
taking him by surprise…
As he tried to walk away,
she screamed, pulling him back…
Demanding his full attention,
with a desperate verbal attack…
Threatened him with a curse,
or so this Gypsy woman said…
Before chanting in a foreign voice,
planting visions in his head…
Transporting him from reality and
into some other place…
One filled with superstition that,
people in her world embrace…
One that’s built on stories,
handed down from the past…
Promoting fear and obedience,
with curses and spells cast…
But he didn’t want to listen,
disrespectfully walking away…
Pushing her to one side,
annoyed at the delay…
So she closed her eyes and
a bitter curse was inflicted…
As her Red rose started wilting,
with a hatred that was twisted…
He didn’t even notice,
the mess he’d left behind…
Went on with his life and
she never crossed his mind…
Until one fateful night,
he became the victim of an attack…
And in his final moments,
he saw her rose turn Black…

Gypsies are not to be messed with! (…and some women, as well)
You are not wrong! Thanks Johann – Cheers J
I loved this.
I love that you love this – the song is so powerful too ! Cheers J
Wow, that’s one demanding woman! Creepy how she’s messing with him… But a truly amazing poem! 🙂
Thank you! Some may say all women are creepy and demanding 😉 – Cheers J
First time i heard this song, i remember thinking, its definitely not my style of music i would listen to. But it grew on me.
I actually think the song blows my words out of the water – it was something I heard on a TV show and have been looking to use it since – not something I normally listen to, but the emotion in the voice really hit me! Nice to see you Ms’ Owl… Cheers J
