Black Daffodil
Black bouquets of daffodils
Wrapped in a stripe of seaweed
Charged in brackish marsh water
Quiet little screams –
A deafening silence
Reeling in briny water
Pungent smells of mud and sulfur
Stir memories of brimstone and lace
Flowers long for the color of sunshine
Seaweed mimics tatting
Dread arrives with a beautiful box
The underside inscribed –
To capture your every thought
Whisper, them inside.
Black bouquets of daffodils
Wrapped in a stripe of seaweed
Charged in brackish marsh water
Flowers of pitch hitched –
To weeds, from the sea
Both grace a special place
Deep within my heart
A heart — ever so gray
It beats wicked and hard
Far beyond stars
A place, a house of cards
With wandering wondering eyes –
Watching Twenty-eight crabs
Fall, fall, fall
Fall from a June sky
Scorpio and cancer lie together
Apparently there is no — never.
Black bouquets of daffodils
Wrapped in a stripe of seaweed
Charged in brackish marsh water
This is — no longer a dream
Of storks with short legs
Or tubs with no water
Sadly, I bore rather quickly
Please keep me amused
With your charm and your ruse
I’m intrigued by intellectual thunder.
Amazing art by Steve Kenny

You’re welcome! Cheers J
🙂
J, a very special thank you for sharing my efforts. The music selection is wonderful, Ed Harcourt’s “Beneath The Heart Of Darkness”, the lyrics are just perfect!
Thank you again,
Pepper
Phew! Glad you approve and thank you! Cheers J
