Is that a light at the end of the tunnel…
Or is it an onrushing train…
She’s having trouble trying to focus…
And see though this heavy rain…
She’s feeling so old and so tired…
Her soul feels drained and listless…
So much dark depression surrounds her…
It’s so hard to feel anything but lifeless…
The world keeps on turning against her…
She feels she can’t do right from wrong….
No matter how people encourage…
She hasn’t the strength to feel strong…
Whenever something good happens…
The rug gets pulled from under her feet…
What is the point of going forward…
Maybe she should just admit defeat…
And succumb to the blackness inside her…
Swallow the pills and just stop…
No one around her would notice…
Even if she jumped off the nearest rooftop…
She tried to live life on the bright side…
And allowed her thoughts to roam free…
Plucked up the courage to be herself…
And let people witness the real she…
But Karma always seemed an issue…
The type with an instant effect…
For every two stumbled steps forward…
She’d be crushed like an annoying insect…
So she retreated into her black cave…
Into the sanctuary that darkness provides….
Where the invisibility always protects you…
Whilst peeling away at the soul with a knife…
People say that it’s all in her head…
And that it’s really all in her mind…
But they have no right to comment…
This reality is hers, not yours or mine….
There is nothing more that can be done…
No words can take this feeling away…
No pills, no potions and no witchcraft…
Can cure the cancer that’s eating away…
So she’s faced with a daily decision…
To move forward or fall just apart…
But her energy levels are so low…
She’s not clear where she should start…
She needs light at the end of the tunnel…
But will accept an onrushing train…
Whatever is best, she really doesn’t care…
Because she’s drowning in this heavy rain…

Rather parallel themes this morning. Rich versus poor, happy versus depressed. Thanks.
Think you describe life rather well!! Nice to see you again Keith – Cheers J

This is unquestionably true… and unfortunately, not enough people respect it. They’ll spend all their time trapped in their own realities, too ignorant to look out and consider the pain of another. One of my favorite quotes:
” ‘You have it easy’ is what pain sounds like. Searing agony, in four words. And to those who say so: Someone has it worse than you. “
So true – Thanks for your insightful words – Cheers J

SAD YET REAL…THROW AWAY THAT KARMA SPIEL (IN MY OPINION) …SHE NEEDS A BETTER DEAL! WELL-DONE, INTENSE POETRY.
Thanks Jonathan and for another reblog – Much appreciated – Cheers J
It’s a relief once out, my husband said this morning, “Oh a genuine smile!” And I knew it was. I’m so thankful for those who do understand as it can be just as difficult for them to journey with me and others like me. It’s good to be able to write it and talk it. Thank you.
Thank you for such an insightful comment Cheryl – Am glad you can connect and keep fighting… Cheers J
J,
This is a wonderful piece. Beautifully told, sad and the darkness is emotionally unnerving, however still bittersweet, with traces of hope. The images that you were able to create with words are so strong, the visual took on a life of its own, at least for me. This poem is perhaps a favorite so far, it has been on a continuous loop in my mind for several days now, so naturally I felt compelled to comment and share my thoughts. Thank you for the intense ride.
Take good care,
Pepper
Thank you for your continued comment and support Pepper – happy you connected with this to such an extent – top of the pile – I think its the Manilow effect – sometimes I think the song does all the hard work! Cheers J
