~
He’s stuck in a moment,
his eyes on the past…
His brain full of nostalgia,
with memories that last…
And haunt his present,
whilst struggling to get through…
As the life he’s living,
is filled with images of you…
The one he craved for,
Twenty years ago…
He knew from the first moment,
but he had to let go…
As the timing was wrong and
the stars weren’t aligned…
Yet he always loved you and
at one stage, tried to find…
Tracking you down,
to tell you his thoughts…
But when he saw you,
cold feet forced him to abort…
So he stood in the shadows,
gazed upon your face…
Saw your contented smile,
then left without a trace…
But with a shattered heart,
that refused to mend…
And told him over and over,
to bin the love letters, not send…
Now Twenty years later,
he has not moved on…
And still lives in the past,
even if it’s so wrong…
Filled with such regret,
at not taking his chance…
That moment in his life,
when he wanted to dance…
But now sits in the window,
that lonely table for one…
His heart aching for her,
as his mind comes undone…

This is just so raw and honest. So humbling, yet so strong in recognizing a source of pain. This is my most favorite piece by you, J. 🙂 There are so many in the world today that yearn to be unconditionally loved….yet how many times do we so freely give, what we want? That is, that same unconditional love that we yearn for?
I would go through 100’s of heartbreaks, than to have never loved at all. Yet we kearn alittle more everyday to love freely, rather than to restrain it.
Thanks for your insightful comment – really happy you connected – Cheers J
Beautiful! We all live with regrets, which we hope to overcome. This illustrates the conundrum of doing so.
Thank you for taking time to comment with such kind words. Cheers J
Reblogged this on MARGO MAGAZINE.
You know a piece of poetry is beautiful when you can’t help but feel what the poem feels, live as it lives.
And this, is beautiful ❤
Thank you – I really appreciate your kind words – glad you connected with my work – Cheers J
You’re very welcome!!
WOW – and I don’t “wow” often, only on occasion. I’ve lived your words.

HEARThugs for you “J” have a great day/night
Hmmm Roy Orbison – love one of his songs – Drove all night – may use it one day! Thanks for your kind words – Cheers J
You’re welcome. I found Roy’s “In Dreams” in this creepy movie called Blue Velvet where Frank drove all night and is passionately obsessed with candy coloured clowns. I like the song but not really interested in the movie. Maybe something for you to use “J”.
Will put my thinking cap on! Cheers J
So sad, yet so beautiful!
Thank you – took a whilst this one! Cheers J
This is a stunningly cool and poignant piece! Caro
