There is no magic pill…
To take away his pain…
Remove all the hate…
That infects his brain…
The mistake that he made…
Can never be undone…
One wrong decision…
And his love was gone…
He left just for an hour…
Met his friends from work…
Came home to a disaster…
To a world of blood and hurt…
Now glaring at the accused…
Ignoring Judge and Jury…
He’s showing no emotion…
Disregards all the fury…
Accused pleads not guilty…
In the eyes of the law…
And in front of God…
On the bible he swore…
Accused of this slaughter…
And innocent lives taken…
The wife and the child…
It left a community shaken…
The child’s throat slit…
Right in front of his mother…
And before it was her turn…
She was raped and smothered…
The evidence stacks up…
But the accused won’t admit…
He’s refusing to confess…
To this crime he did commit…
The returning Jury file in…
And they cannot decide…
A split decision entered…
The accused just smugly smiles…
The Judge calls for silence…
As the words incite debate…
A hung Jury is the outcome…
Legal justice has to wait…
But it is the final straw…
The silent gun is pointed…
A single shot rings out…
The panicking room’s disjointed…
The accused is now slumped…
Bloody and dead in his chair…
Real justice is done…
The shooter doesn’t care…
Turning the gun on himself…
He gently pulls the trigger…
Joins his wife and child…
In a heavenly shimmer…
There was no magic pill…
To take away his pain…
But he removed the hurt…
With a bullet in his brain…

Quite a poem
Thanks Marissa – in a good / interesting way I hope! Cheers J
Wow. Brutal truth, a subject from which most people would shy. Well written.
Thank you – I guess I don’t set out to choose risky subject matter – but I would never shy away from anything or avoid a subject – as long as I feel it is written in a well constructed way – if that makes sense? Cheers J
It makes perfect sense. Sometimes, there are subjects that cry out for us to write about them.
Thanks for your like on my blog. What a haunting poem! It elicited strong images in my head.

Haunting. Heartbreaking. Sad. Too sad. Some of the tags on this poem make me wonder…
Haha – All you need to wonder is “The tags don’t work”! I don’t really know how they should work, so I just tag with everything! Hope you are well? Cheers J
