Like flowers in a vase…
Wilting day by day…
Their love is slowly dying…
No matter what they say…
They know it can’t be saved…
Too much anger, turned to hate…
A perfect storm of their making…
Should they hang around and wait…
Or should they bite the bullet…
And sever all the ties…
Finish this sorry chapter…
And move on with their lives…
From being close together…
Beginning a life alone…
And into the big bad world…
Travel the great unknown…
Even if they are not ready…
And they are so unsure…
It has to be better…
Than what they had before…
Uncertain where they stand…
And treading on egg shells…
Fighting over little things…
And just fooling themselves…
That they can fix this…
They are way beyond that point…
All that’s left is to admit…
Aware they’ll disappoint…
People all around them…
The ones who have supported…
And provided opportunities…
Whilst their words distorted…
Just what was going on…
The truth behind the lies…
Feelings have simply evaporated…
Been sucked out from their eyes…
And now it’s time to act…
Free themselves from this cell…
As the longer this goes on…
The more it’ll feel like Hell…
Because like flowers in a vase…
They are wilting day by day…
A love that’s slowly dying…
And quietly fading away…

Thank you for liking my poem “Poetry By Moonlight” on Thoughts, Socks and Jots. I tend to write lighter poems, but I like the voice that you express throughout your work. The added music ramps it up a notch in a powerful way that draws in more senses. Interesting concept. Keep up the good work. 🙂
It’s just as if you’re writing about one of my previous relationships…
Jamie, A shattered relationship lying in pieces on the floor, just waiting to be swept up in the dustpan and tossed aside as if it never mattered to anyone. Along with the music this is a very powerful piece. Well done Jamie.
Thank you for visiting the Widow. I am sad to say my vision is not the best, so I have difficulty reading blogs with white print on black background. God bless you.
My. This evening you, a stranger, liked my post. I usually write essays and this was my first attempt at poetry (I use the term loosely when speaking of my “poem”). Of course, I immediately checked out your blog. How you weave magic with your words! Just beautiful! A happy discovery. Peace.
