In the morning…
As the dawn awakes…
The war has started…
And there’s no escape…
Soldiers fighting…
For their lives…
They may not return…
To see their wives…
They take the leap…
Into no man’s land…
And put their lives…
Into fates cold hands…
The guns are fired…
One by one…
The bloody deaths…
Can’t be undone…
Bodies falling…
To the ground…
Have they really made…
Their country proud…
As the sun sets…
Questions remain…
When will war be over…
And end all the pain…

Young Ollie’s first poem for his English class – copyright IamOllie 123
I can not image the horrors of war…maybe that is why I am drawn to movies like “Saving Private Ryan” and “Band of Brothers”. Your poem captures this feeling and question of why.
Do I remember right? …Ollie is your son? Pardon me if I’m wrong J! Bless-emma
Blessings to those who fight for us.
wonderful insight!
a failure to communicate
much bigger than a Paul Newman movie. 🙂
