“Open this window, let the sickness out”…

~

She woke up feeling happy…
Sun shining through the blinds…
Last night felt so surreal…
Was this finally a sign…
That her life had new direction…
And someone she could love…
He’d come from out of nowhere…
Prayer answered from high above…

She’d closed her eyes long ago…
Spoke to the gods unseen…
Begged for divine intervention…
And for life to stop being mean…
Like a Black and White movie…
He seemed a real life gentleman…
And treated her like a princess…
Nothing like the usual cavemen…

Money was of no consequence…
He lavished such amazing gifts…
A man with taste and generosity…
It dazzled the what, buts and ifs…
Was consumed by his presence…
Swept away with such desire…
She’d never felt this way before…
Like walking up on the high wire…

Her head was light and dizzy…
And her heart skipped like a child…
He made her feel so complete…
First time in months she’d smiled…
She was the envy of her friends…
Who could just never understand…
What it’s like to be in his arms…
Or to be under his command…

He navigated her spaceship…
Took her far above the stars…
Cast a magic spell on her…
And begun to heal her scars…
His words were so hypnotic…
There is nothing she wouldn’t do…
To protect this special something…
And to keep him within her view…

Because nothing lasts forever…
And it felt too good to be true…
She knew one day he’d hurt her…
And leave her feeling blue…
She woke up feeling happy…
Sun shining through the blinds…
Last night felt so surreal…
His dead body they’ll never find…

  1. Wonderful poem. I love it! You did really well on my challenge, haha 🙂 And yet you managed to add something dark and gloomy to it 😉 But it works out really well, so no complaints from me! Well done!
