“Keep the same appointments I kept…”

Memories of lovers, flushed down the drain…
Smash the window of his soul, like windswept rain…
Can’t hear them screaming, not feeling their pain…
He treated them all so bad…

Looking one way, then quickly the other…
Wondering at times, why the hell they would bother…
He was badly brought up, blame father & mother…
His conscience now driving him mad…

The times he lied, went behind their back…
So many occasions, he began to lose track…
Believing the hype, put the lad in the Jack…
Never suspected that they’d been had…

So humble, so trusting, so easy to fool…
Temptation a hunger, he needed to fuel…
So wrong in hindsight and so very cruel…
Guilt’s grip is now ironclad…

“One last time” he thought, just couldn’t hurt…
The final stab, a dig in lusts dirt…
Forbidden desire he tried to convert…
The clues she finally did add…

Wiping the tears, from off her face…
Her trembling body, his lack of grace…
There was no choice, she needed some space…
Her eyes so Blue, so sad…

Now she’s strong enough to walk away…
Now it’s her who wins the day…
Now it’s time for them to pay…
Revenge now makes her feel glad…

Memories of lovers, washed down the drain…
Hit her souls window, like windswept rain…
Can’t hear them screaming, not feeling their pain…
Now she treats them all so bad…

Inspired by the throwaway line “You flush your lovers away”.

So I am still looking backwards on the music front and Depeche Modes “Songs of Faith and Devotion” has been given airtime – in amongst some great tunes is this classic – “Try walking in my shoes” – it was on constant rotation at one point in my life – its now found it’s way onto my Ipod!

Enjoy…
